Introducing CelticDAB – A New Voice for Digital Radio in Ireland

CelticDAB is an independent new entrant in the future of digital radio in Ireland. We are building a fresh, open, and inclusive DAB+ platform that puts diversity, transparency, and public value at the heart of Irish broadcasting.

We have submitted a request for a one-year Test & Trial licence to operate a DAB+ multiplex along Ireland’s East Coast—from Wicklow to the Northern Ireland border—serving major towns and cities including Dublin, Drogheda, and Dundalk.

Our multiplex will carry both commercial and community stations. At least 20% of the available capacity will be offered free of charge to licensed community broadcasters, ensuring access for grassroots voices and public-interest media.

We are committed to operating with full transparency: open governance, published pricing, and a clear, fair application process. Participation will be open to all broadcasters—new and established alike.

This is just the beginning. CelticDAB plans to develop additional services and support innovation in radio across Ireland. But for now, our focus is on launching this initial project and proving that a more inclusive, transparent approach to DAB+ is possible.

📡 If you are a radio station or media organisation interested in joining our project—or if you simply support the vision—please get in touch via our contact form. Help us build a digital future for Irish radio that works for everyone.
